The Way Indians Listen to Radio These Days
Around 90 % of individuals listen to music while they are involved in other routine activities such as driving, cooking and other household chores. Refreshing and latest music coupled with a bubbly radio jockey hosting the show compel people to switch on their radio sets to unwind for some time. Most of these shows revolve around entertainment, celebrities and current social happenings across the town.
Accordingly to the poll conducted by Couponraja.com, around 56.25 % of the total poll participants preferred turning on their radio only when they are bored. 20.72 % listen to radio while there are walking. Amazingly, only 15.13 % turn on their radio while they travel. 7.9 % confess that the radio keeps them entertained while they are driving. Office seems to be the least popular place for radio listeners.
When it comes to individual tastes, around 77.69 % love tuning-in to the latest Bollywood stations. Hindi movie songs seem to be on top of the list with Hindi pop being the next big thing on the radio. Unfortunately, English music lovers account to only 14.87 % of the votes. Finally, 3.72 % prefer tuning-in to regional stations.
Radio Mirchi turns out to be the most popular radio station with 55.45 % votes. BIG FM is the next most sought after radio station but way behind with only 26.17 % votes. Next to follow are RED FM and Radio City with 10.75 and 2.97 % votes respectively.
Radio, a proven effective advertising source tends to attract key audiences in key market areas very effectively and hence is highly preferred for various promotional activities. With nearly 150 radio stations expected to go live in 40 cities in the near future, it seems like radio listeners in India have a lot more coming up on their platter.
