Channels and Shows Indians Love to Watch on TV

When it comes to TV entertainment, Indians have their own choices. Some prefer sports, while others love keeping a tab on their favourite TV series. Over the years, personal preferences have undergone a serious transformation and numerous other entertainment sources have evolved. In February 2013, the Logicserve Group rolled out a poll to find out about the Indian preference when it comes to watching television.

Ten Sports – Most Watched Channel by Indian Viewers
According to a poll, Ten Sports headed the chart with 49.99 % of the total 8266 votes followed by History Channel way behind with 19.85 % votes. The Discovery Channel dominated the third position but with only 4.25 % of the total votes. Shockingly, only 223 poll participants voted for Star Cricket. With 2.2 % votes, SAB TV finds itself at the 5th spot. A few inches behind lies the most popular Kid’s channel, the Cartoon Network with 1.74 % votes. MTV seemed to be one of the least popular entertainment channels with only 1.19 % of the total votes.

Sports Channels Emerge as The Most Watched TV Channels
Sports emerged as the most popular category with a whopping 56 % votes followed by Education with 28 % votes. At 11 %, Sitcoms and daily soaps dominated as the next most preferred category in India. Only 4 % of the total participants voted for the Kids genre. Music and Movies category received 5 and 1 % votes respectively.

Indian audience prefer spending long hours watching a sport, while sitcoms and daily soaps channels are switched on only for a few hours. Music and movies still seem to be less preferred but is a largely accepted source of entertainment in the urban India.
